Oberdorf, crack repair

Road cracks are caused by high loads and temperature fluctuations. The asphalt layers expand when it is hot and contract when it is cold. This movement causes thermal stresses that lead to longitudinal and transverse cracks. Crack grouting primarily prevents water and dirt from penetrating the covering layer, which can prevent frost damage.

Our renovation group at SPAG Schnyder Plüss AG has received the order from the municipality of Oberdorf to carry out crack repairs of around 3,000 linear meters on Schulhausstrasse. The cracks are opened and blown out with a hot air lance (also called a “hot dog lance”). The cleaned cracks are then filled with hot bitumen and sprinkled with sand.
